Haatch have a team of experienced hands-on value creators. We use that knowledge, experience and network to accelerate the growth of early-stage companies. Kiddicare.com founder Scott Weavers-Wright, who sold the business to Morrisons in 2011 for £70m & has since sold another start-up to Quotient Technologies (NYSE Listed), digital marketing expert Simon Penson (founder of Zazzle Media; sold to NYSE-listed IPG for £37m) and Mark Bennett (VP for Android GTM at Google) as well as respected technology expert Fred Soneya. Together the team is able to best support portfolio companies not just with cash, but with a vast wealth of start up scaling knowledge.

Scott is best-known for founding one of Britain's largest e-commerce businesses Kiddicare.com which was subsequently acquired in cash for £70m, by Morrisons, one of the UK's largest supermarkets. Reaching 6th on the Retail-Week Power List, Scott is regarded by many as one of the UK's most innovative business professionals in retail. Founding Haatch, Scott has invested in, and developed businesses in the areas of ad tech, B2B SaaS and retail tech. Scott founded Elevaate in 2014 enabling supplier monetisation programs across retailer websites. Elevaate was acquired by Quotient Technology Inc. (NYSE: QUOT) based in California in 2018. Scott was awarded an OBE in 2022 for services to Technology and Retail E-commerce Entrepreneurship.

Fred Soneya

Fred was responsible for a number of high-profile, large-scale innovation projects across Kiddicare.com and, post-acquisition, Morrisons, the UK’s 4th largest Supermarket. Fred created award-winning digital customer experiences by working with cutting-edge early-stage technology start-ups, bridging the online-offline gap at Morrisons. This included the launch of browse-and-order points at over 300 supermarkets, mobile payments which scaled to hundreds of millions in revenue and electronic shelf-edge labels for thousands of SKUs in the largest, digital-first retail stores in the UK. Having co-founded Haatch in 2013, and launching the tax-efficient funds in 2018, Fred is responsible for the day-to-day running of the funds and team.

Mark Bennett is VP for Android GTM at Google, having previously been Director of Hardware Partnerships in APAC and led the international business of Google Play. In his current role he leads a global team responsible for driving the success of the android ecosystem. In his previous roles he headed up Google's hardware sales in APAC and focused on growing Google’s digital content business for games, apps, film and other content verticals in EMEA, APAC, and LATAM. Prior to Google, Mark was the Managing Director of Blinkbox Music, where he grew the streaming music service to over 2.5 million users in 18 months. Previous to this, Mark held posts at Sainsbury’s, Microsoft & HMV.

Jeremy sits on the investment team and is responsible for leading deals from discovery, through our due diligence process to writing cheques and offering post-investment support for portfolio companies. He'll look at early-stage technology start-ups that fit our thesis and deploys capital from the SEIS and EIS Funds.

Tom Healy

Tom Healy

Head of Fundraising

Tom is primarily responsible fundraising and the growth of the Haatch EIS and SEIS Funds. Additionally he manages investor relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for direct investors into the Funds. Prior joining Haatch in 2024, Tom started out working in Investor Relations at a structured credit hedge fund before then going on to another EIS Fund as a Senior Associate where he was directly responsible for raising over £5.5m during his tenure as well as creating and maintaining marketing collateral and assisting portfolio companies in raising subsequent funding rounds.

Jessica Fox

Head of Marketing & Investor Relations

Jessica is responsible for Marketing and Investor Relations at Haatch, including communications, messaging and working with investors, advisers and intermediaries. Prior to joining Haatch, she gained a wealth of experience most recently with another leading EIS and VCT provider, Calculus Capital. Before this, Jessica held a number of roles in the Investment Management sector, working with advisers and HNW clients at 7IM as an Assistant Relationship Manager and in Business Development and Marketing at Close Brothers Asset Management.

Sophie Weavers-Wright

Head of Platform & Portfolio

Sophie’s role at Haatch is focused around supporting the relationship with our portfolio companies, Haatch and each other, in a connecting role as we continue to grow the Haatch offering. Prior to joining Haatch, Sophie was part of an original Haatch backed company which was acquired back in 2018. Her role there was Senior Customer Success Manager looking after tier 1 companies within the platform, helping them with everything from strategy to pacing and everything in-between.
